Ji Li has long focused on research in intellectual property (IP) law and management. He has published multiple articles in SCI and SSCI journals, and participated in drafting laws, regulations and policy documents such as the Draft Regulations on Intellectual Property Protection of Shanghai Municipality and the 14th Five-Year Plan for Intellectual Property of Pudong New Area, Shanghai.

He has provided legal services to enterprises including Shanghai Electric and Disney. Currently, he serves as an adjunct teacher at the Shanghai Education Base of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wenzhou Intellectual Property Institute, as well as a guest speaker at China Business Radio of Shanghai People's Broadcasting Station.
